Owning Your Learning Journey: A Roadmap to Sustainable Professional Growth in Public Health

Abstract

Unlocking the full potential of professional development in public health requires more than attending training classes – it demands a conscious commitment to ongoing learning and collaboration. This workshop explores the diverse professional development opportunities offered by Region IV Public Health Training Center (R-IV PHTC) that amplify individual, team, and organizational learning experiences. While PHTC offers a rich tapestry of training programs, we emphasize that these opportunities serve as catalysts for continuous learning that occurs on the job and with others.

Intentional decision-making - that includes training sessions, networking opportunities, and other collaborative learning - plays a pivotal role in prioritizing continuous growth. The professional development plan is a useful tool for prioritizing the full range of activities to be included in your learning journey.

In this workshop, we showcase trainings available to meet individual training needs as well as inspiring examples of public health professionals in Region IV, including Georgia, actively engaging in collaborative learning environments. Attendees will receive practical insights on developing their own personalized professional development plans and valuable guidance on tailoring their growth strategies to address personal leadership challenges and advance professional goals. Furthermore, we will highlight the significance of finding and participating in communities that resonate with individual aspirations, fostering an environment where collective growth becomes the cornerstone of success.

Join us as we explore how PHTC serves as a resource to support both individual professional development and collective progress, demonstrating that the journey of professional development extends far beyond conventional training sessions. This presentation aims to inspire and equip public health professionals to embrace a proactive approach to their ongoing learning journey, fostering a culture of continuous development for the betterment of the entire public health community in Georgia and beyond.
