Improving Outcomes Through Collaboration in Rural Georgia

Abstract

In 2015, through a federal Rural Health Network Development Planning grant, a public health district undertook the creation of a nonprofit that could work alongside the health district to implement and coordinate special projects and leverage private funding to advance the health district’s work. While such nonprofits, or foundations, are more common among some government agencies (for example, state and national park foundations), they are less commonly seen in public health. This presentation will describe the path to creating the nonprofit and the results of this partnership over the past five years.
