Abstract

The opioid epidemic has grown rapidly over the past few years with prescription drug counterfeiting and the addition to Fentanyl, the epidemic is at an all time high. In addition to the Covid-19 pandemic, Monkeypox and the economy, which cause many to lose employment, drug addiction has ballooned. To promote health and well-being is a mission of public health and we as public health officials must strive to do so. In doing so, we have to realize, there is a stigma associated with addiction and drug use. It is a must that the framework for this stigma be changed. The importance of coming together for the greater good of the community is of the utmost importance. District 6 is working to rewrite the narrative regarding the Opioid epidemic and our community.
