Description
This workshop explores questions of why it is often so hard for White people to have honest conversations about race and racism in the U.S. today, and how this difficulty in engaging with race and racism can manifest itself in the counseling session or the classroom in harmful ways -- often in combination with intersecting issues related to gender and sexuality. The workshop utilizes interactive exercises, lecture and discussion to examine professional and ethical issues involved in work with empowering, bridging and connecting with clients across racial identities. Approved for 1.25 ethics contact hours.
