Description

First responders and military personnel engage in work that includes challenging schedules, significant physical demands, harmful environments, and high levels of stress. Methods for improving fitness and physical performance have become more popular for tactical professionals. Nutrition, an area that can provide invaluable benefits to health, fitness, and performance, must be addressed to optimize individual capabilities and team success. The speaker will highlight current dietary trends and shortcomings of tactical professionals, describe how the work and social environment impact the diet, and discuss dietary approaches to ameliorate the harmful effects of the tactical workplace. Attendees will learn how changes to the diet can improve performance and health and decrease the short- and long-term negative impacts of the tactical environment. The session will include intermediate and advanced content that provides practical and actionable changes for tactical professionals and providers to employ. Attendees will gain insight into the important role that nutrition plays and the challenges that must be overcome to drive lasting and impactful dietary and lifestyle changes.
