Teaching with Technology – Research
Abstract
Metacognitive strategies can lead to improvements in academic success as well as promote a growth mindset. This presentation will review research exploring the use answer-until-correct (AUC) class activities that provide immediate corrective feedback to encourage the critical-thinking skills characteristic of metacognitive learners. I’ll review data comparing AUC learning activities with more traditional activities, as well as demonstrate, with audience engagement, AUC options suitable for online and face-to-face teaching arrangements. I’ll discuss how various components of metacognitive thinking are addressed with this technology and show how it can be used to promote higher academic achievement and growth mindset among college students.
