Shannon A. Hosey Ed.S My name is Shannon Hosey and I serve as the Student Success Coordinator at Parkview Elementary School. At Parkview Elementary we are dedicated to supporting academics, social and emotional development. I earned my Bachelor's & Masters Degrees from Alcorn State University. BSW/M.Ed. I have over 15 years of experience in counseling & education.

In today's rapidly changing world, young people are facing an increasing number of challenges. Some of these issues range from academic pressure, mental health issues, stress, anxiety & depression. Therefore, building youth resilience is an essential for personal growth. Many young people lack success to guidance, resources and support systems that can help them navigate through life.
Without the proper interventions, many problems can escalate, impeding on the long-term well-being and productivity of the students.

Dealing with an angry student requires patience, empathy, and professionalism. The goal is to defuse the situation, protect everyone involved and help the student to regain control.
Summary
The proposal summary on the Do's & Don'ts of Dealing With An Angry Students begins with making sure you model the behavior that you want to see. Ensure that you remain professional at all times and remove yourself from the situation if needed. In order to deal with some students you have to be an active listener. Start by letting the student express their feelings without interrupting. You can show them you are listening by your body language. Other methods include: Acknowledge emotions, maintain safety and personal space, stay calm & composed & set clear, calm boundaries.
