Mr. Hooper brings a unique background in Educational Management, International Business and Security Hardware Manufacturing. Mr. Hooper has over 20 years of experience in the field of education and 18 years in mechanical security. His academic degrees include; Bachelors of Science Degree - University of Wisconsin Master’s Degree – Texas A&M University Educational Specialist Degree – Kennesaw University Charter School Financial Management – University of Georgia Scholar of the Year Award – Kennesaw University PHD Department Contributing Editor to: Locksmith Ledger Magazine and The National Locksmith Mr. Hooper’s experience in public school and his working knowledge of mechanical locking devices, combine to give him a unique perspective of classroom and school security from a teacher’s perspective and administrators alike. Working in inner city schools and Turn-Around projects for years, Mr. Hooper brings real world insight to his discussions and examples with current video clips of school violence and how the school and staff can protect themselves.

This practical and current program will bring teachers, administrators, and SRO’s and school staff up to date on current issues, methodologies and hardware developments in the areas of school safety. What have schools successfully implemented to make schools safer? Who was successful and why. How can we learn from the successes as well as the failures in school security?

This presentation uses real life examples of violent school incidents as reported by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security. We investigate what went wrong, what was done right and what we have learned from 50 years of research in school security. The presentation also reviews how school violence was obverted and what we have learned about how to prevent an incident on your campus. The presentation covers all aspects of prevention/mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery during a campus emergency.

Evidence

Presentation is based on two text written by the Department of Homeland Security. Examples of real case studies reflect what was done right and what was done wrong in six different campus incidents. Learning is gathered from real life experience and class discussion.
