First Presenter's Brief Biography

Dr. Kiawana Kennedy is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and has proudly served the students, families, and communities of metro Atlanta and surrounding areas for more than 30 years. Dr. Kennedy’s educational accomplishments include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle Grades Education from West Georgia College and a Master's as well as a Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from State University of West Georgia. In 2000, Dr. Kennedy graduated from the University of Georgia where she earned a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership. The roles in which she has honed her craft by ensuring quality learning for all include serving as an elementary and middle school teacher, an assistant principal at the middle school level, principal of multiple levels, and district level positions including Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Chief Operating Officer, Assistant Superintendent as well as Deputy Superintendent. Dr. Kennedy currently serves as Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) Education Outreach Specialist where she continues to support education across the state of Georgia.

Join GPB Education as we engage you in experiences to strengthen strategies that can support self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. There are a wealth of support resources and tools available at no cost through PBS LearningMedia to support positive school cultures and climates

Summary

The resources that the teachers will be exposed to a provided by Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB). GPB is a state agency and has the mandate of providing no cost digital content and resources for teachers, students, families, and communities across the state. As one of the largest PBS stations in the nation, Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB Media) has been creating content worth sharing for over 60 years. With nine television stations, 19 radio stations and a multi-faceted digital and education division. GPB strives to educate, entertain, and enrich the lives of our communities. A wealth of educational resources for teachers and students and enlightening programs about our state are provided. The social emotional learning content will be resources that teachers can easily incorporate into their classrooms on a daily basis.

The content that teachers will experience will be of high quality and aligned to state and national standards.
