First Presenter's Brief Biography

Michael is the founder and powerhouse behind Steered Straight Inc., a non-profit organization formed in 2007 upon his release from prison and designed to carry an important message to youth on the extreme dangers of vaping, fentanyl, drugs, gang involvement and associated criminal activity. Steered Straight’s program reaches out to children, teens and young adults with a message of reality about life-choices and the importance of consequential thinking so they understand that there are consequences to their actions. The reality of the message comes from Michael himself, who was entwined in the life of drugs and traveled a troubled road to get to his future.

Steered Straight’s program reaches out to children, teens and young adults with a message of reality about life-choices and the importance of consequential thinking so they understand that there are consequences to their actions. We also educate staff in professional development about how to combat these issues in the classroom, and educate parents on what to look for at home so that everyone involved in the lives of our youth.

Brief Program Description

This session will discuss the complete misunderstood fixation of the Vape and the JUUL by adolescents. We will discuss the facts of susceptibility of the adolescent brain to this dangerous stimulant. Also covered will be the systemic dangers to the brain and body that is completely underestimated. This is the Tri-Fecta Gateway of Nicotine, Alcohol, Fentanyl, and Marijuana.

Summary

We cover how the age of first use, experimentation and regular, habitual use and abuse has lowered, hitting our kids at an even younger age. This seminar explains the signs and symptoms, what to look for and how to collaboratively bring solutions to this social epidemic. Prescription misuse and abuse, synthetics and chemical drugs as well as heroin are explained and presented in a way to better prepare educators on how to solve this ongoing problem. Materials are also provided.

I have been in education for 38 years and have attended countless PD workshops. I have never attended a more interesting and eye-opening workshop as I have today. Mr. DeLeon is dynamic. I will never forget this seminar.
