Summary
Join the Georgia Health Policy Center’s Center of Excellence for Children’s Behavioral Health for an interactive webinar regarding School-Based Mental Health. This session will cover the topic of School-Based Mental Health (SBMH). It will provide insight and guidance on what SBMH is, as well as the essential components and best practices for developing and implementing a school-based mental health program. The Georgia Apex Program (Apex), the largest school-based mental health program in the state of Georgia (funded by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD)), will be highlighted. Apex strives to build capacity and increase mental health services for school-aged youth, Pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade, throughout the state, recognizing that schools are a natural environment for identification and intervention for youth with unmet mental health needs. The program promotes collaboration between community mental health providers and schools to provide school-based services and support, including training for school staff to facilitate better mental health.
