For the past 15 years, Katie Greer has traveled the world educating students, parents, educators, law enforcement and more on digital health and safety issues. Previously of the MA Attorney General's Office and MA State Police, Katie's unique professional, educational and personal backgrounds create dynamic conversations around how to keep kids safe and adults informed in our tech-driven world. Katie has been featured in a variety of world-renowned publications and news shows as an expert, and consults with both private and public entities throughout the world. Katie is a 4th year PhD student, with a focus on teen sexting behaviors.

In our tech-driven world, it's imperative that our schools and educational stakeholders are informed on the latest technology safety issues, along with ways to facilitate a safe, healthy and productive relationship with technology for our students.
Brief Program Description
Since the pandemic has started, screen time has doubled for kids ages 11-17. This session will dive into the latest tech trends including social media, increased screen time, sexting and cyberbullying, and will provide attendees with tools to help kids stay safe while using technology.
Summary
A recent study revealed that, since the pandemic, kids' screen time - not including time online for school - has increased two-fold, for an average of 7.7 hours a day. It is imperative that stakeholders working with kids are up-to-speed on the latest technology trends. This presentation will feature important information on trendy apps such as TikTok, its benefits and pitfalls, along with ways to make it safer for kids to use. The presentation will review issues such as screen time, and offer tools to attendees so they may better manage it in their houses and places of work. This presentation will cover other trends such as cyberbullying and sexting behavior, covering important aspects of these important, prevalent digital safety issues.
