Blogging has become one of the Internet’s favorite devices for transmitting all types of information. In education, blogging is a powerful tool for students to reach an authentic audience with their writing because of its low-cost start up but far-reaching capabilities. In the past, students’ academic voices were channeled through paper and ink publications like campus newspapers and newsletters, which often have limited scope and readership. Blogging, on the other hand, provides an adaptable outlet capable of worldwide-web dissemination and promotion through social media. Using blogs integrates technology in the classroom, drives creativity, encourages collaboration and innovative design, and empowers student learning. In this paper, students from Armstrong State University’s Advanced Spanish Grammar and Syntax course and myself will discuss the process of creating a blog, as well as how it blends into the writing process. Also, we will discuss the future goals for the blog and how we view it as a resource to increase the visibility of the Latino voice on campus across disciplines and departments, as well as the community.
