Abstract

The Author's Function (Maria Alejandra Amiel)

This presentation seeks to outline the importance of the author of French contemporary novels in the French culture. There is a stipulation of whether the author should be recognized or not within literature. This study examines the presence of the authors influence in the lasting impression of the novel.

Tone and Diction in Bernard Du Boucheron's Novel Court Serpent (Jessica Todd)

I would like to write about how Bernard Du Boucheron utilizes tone and diction in order to make a commentary on the hypocritical nature of religion in Court Serpent (i.e. the lack of morals and charity in this "charitable" mission).
I will analyze the use of a 1st person narrator as well to further illustrate the lack of compassion demonstrated by the clergy.

A Comparative Study of Different Accents (Danielle Ebanks)

Le sujet pour ma présentation est les similarités et les différences linguistiques entre l'accent québécois et l'accent parisien. L'accent parisien est souvent considéré comme l'accent standard. Je vais découvrir les différences phonétiques et fournir des exemples.

The Louisiana Accent (Brady Gwynn)

Brady Gwynn will be researching the Louisiana/creole accent. She will research the history of the accent, tracing back its heritage. She will analyze the melting pot of the two different races that created the creole accent: African slaves and Land owning Frenchmen.
