I started my career working with the EOA CSRA Head Start Inc. Program in 1982 working with 5 year old children. Throughout my career, I worked with preschool children ages 3-4. In 2013, I began working at Georgia Southern University CDC Program as an assistant in the Preschool Class. In 2015, I changed my positions to work as a Child Development Specialist in the Infant class.
Second Presenter Brief Bio
I am a native of Oliver, Georgia, located in Screven County Georgia. I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a B.S. in Child & Family Development and from Concordia University with a Master’s in Educational Leadership. I have served on the Southern Conference on Children’s Planning Committee (SCOC) and served on the Child Development Center’s Research Committee. I am a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Georgia Association on Young Children (GAYC) and The Southern Early Childhood Association (SECA). For 28 years, I have been an advocate for early childhood education, while spending the last 17 years teaching at Georgia Southern University Child Development Center.

Through this workshop the participants will learn what play is and the importance of it in healthy brain development. It is through play that children at a very early age engage and interact in the world around them.
