Full Session Description

For the first time in history there are four generations of workers in the workplace. The cultural impact of this dynamic is unique and is expressed in various forms. The family dynamic is rapidly evolving with single parent homes becoming the norm and grandparents playing an ever-growing role in rearing their grandchildren. Schools and their teachers are under enormous pressure to adequately address an unprecedented amount of diversity in the classroom. School districts are measured by student’s achievements on standardized academic assessments which are considered the benchmark of a successful academic environment. Parents and caregivers want their child to have an advantage both socially and academically so that in turn they can be employable and well-rounded. This abundance of competing interests among these stakeholders have created a huge gap in the area of leadership. Currently, there are no known character development or leadership curriculum's implemented into public schools which, given the circumstances, appears a glaring omission. Why would a child living in a digital age want to become a leader? What are the attributes of a digital leader? Investment in building leadership for this generation is paramount to the future of our country.
