The Youth International Party was neither Left in 1968 nor remains today. The Students for a Democratic Society was not "New" in 1968 and is not left today. These plays on words and, in the case of the Yippies, words on play, will be entertained along with an examination of the character of the Old Left, the development of the New Left from Port Huron to the Days of Rage, and the status of the Left in America today.
