Description of Lecture
Larry Babits, Dept. of History, will analyze the basic anthropological concept that culture is patterned and that patterning has manifested itself in a ritual activity such as rites of passage and the creation of archaeological sites. He will draw upon research conducted in Europe, the Middle East, Australia and the Americas to identify and interpret key elements of patterned Nacirema Culture on the Georgia Coast.
