Abstract

A broadband antenna is proposed to achieve wide impedance bandwidth while maintaining a compact electrical size. The antenna is composed of triple conical shapes with different radii and flare angles, and they are superimposed to form a single radiating structure with only one feed. The proposed antenna gets a −10-dB impedance bandwidth of 155%, spanning from 1.08 GHz to 8.57 GHz and exhibits an electrical size, kr, of 1.08 at the lowest operating frequency of 1.08 GHz. Over the operating band, the antenna attains a maximum realized gain of 5.28 dBi.
