Abstract
Our study analyzes how women entrepreneurs in developing countries build relationships in order to gain legitimacy for their ventures. Research on gender differences in entrepreneurship has identified inequalities between female and male entrepreneurs, primarily concluding that women are underrepresented. Our project aims to fill in the gaps from previous research on women entrepreneurs in digital ecosystems. We want to dig further into the topic and figure out how women use their platform to progress their business. During our project we have looked at developing economies where gender differences tend to be more salient, and we ask “How do women entrepreneurs gain legitimacy for their ventures by building relationships?” We focus on women entrepreneurs, whose new business ventures consist of digital ecosystems in the variety of industries available. With our research we have visited several different incubators, that aid entrepreneurs with their business. We have interviewed several different women to gather knowledge on their personal experiences and journey to further our analysis and research, as well.
