Abstract

Research on supply chain resilience has expanded alongside rising global volatility, yet the literature remains fragmented in how it links resilience strategies to specific disruption profiles. This review advances conceptual clarity by integrating two complementary frameworks: the three-phase resilience levers; Pre-disruption (Resist/absorb), During-disruption (Withstand/respond), and Post-disruption (Restore/recover and grow), and disruption typologies classified by frequency (high vs. low) and impact severity (high vs. low). Using PRISMA procedures, the review examines leading SCR studies published since 2014 to assess the degree of alignment between resilience capabilities and disruption characteristics. Strategies, practices, antecedents, and outcomes are organized within a novel 3×4 framework that links temporal resilience phases with disruption archetypes. Findings are expected to reveal substantial variation in how disruptions are conceptualized, uneven attention to chronic and high-frequency events, and a predominant emphasis on restorative capabilities over resistance or endurance mechanisms. This synthesis enhances theoretical coherence and provides practical guidance for designing resilience strategies that are better matched to today’s increasingly turbulent operating environment.
