Background
-
A mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall is a unique type of retaining structure used for many decades for its efficiency and reliability.
-
It is usually assumed and designed as a 2D structure.
-
In recent years, a common application of MSE walls is support for bridge abutments that consists of a 3-sided wall.
-
This is conducted as a part of the ASCE National Geowall Competition held in Charlotte, NC.
