Relevance to Primary Strand
Most schools we are focused on student academic success, and though we are in a corrections setting, we are no different. However, some of the challenges are different and we would like to be able to share our experiences in putting the right systems in place for student success.
Brief Program Description
The objective for our presentation would be to share our experiences in operating a juvenile justice school and the obstacles we've overcome to create opportunities and a climate of success for our students.
Summary
The presentation would address the topics of evaluating instruction when a program is in a "work at your own pace setting," outside partnerships (college/CTE), high-school equivalency vs. high school curriculum, and blended-learning in a correctional setting.
Evidence
The evidence our program is working is that our partner, who is intimately familiar with our program, has chosen to renew our annual contract for four (4) years, even though many others have offered to provide the service.
