Students are more successful when supported by an engaged family and community. To increase engagement with families, Jones County Schools utilizes Family and Community Engagement (FACE) teams at the district and school levels. Through the implementation of these teams, family and community engagement are now energized at the elementary, middle, high, and district-wide levels. By implementing FACE teams, families and community members are eager to attend events that promote learning and close the achievement gap, in addition to strengthening the relationship between families, school, and the community.

FACE is groovy!
Summary
Research has shown throughout the years that students are more successful if supported by their engaged family and community. To increase engagement with families, Jones County Schools utilizes Family and Community Engagement (FACE) teams at the district and school levels. Through the implementation of these teams, family and community engagement are now energized at the elementary, middle, high, and district-wide levels.
A vibe can be described as a feeling, idea, connection between people, message, or idea. FACE teams and staff members now evaluate the “vibe” on their campus. Positive vibes increase engagement between educators and their families. Sharing that positive vibe will build trust and relationships that foster student success in and out of the classroom. Staff members will be eager to participate and attend family engagement events once again! Students will encourage their families to attend exciting engagement events. By removing barriers and creating a positive vibe, families will be eager to attend a variety of family engagement events that increase their capacity to help their child be successful.
Jones County Family and Community Engagement Coordinators will share resources that outline how the FACE teams created a positive vibe on their campus, increased parent engagement, and built community partnerships. Best practices for hosting events, event planning guide and checklist, and examples of innovative resources that build both parent and staff capacity, as required by Title I Federal Programs will be shared throughout the session.
