Brief Program Description
Nationally recognized school safety expert and best-selling author of “Education in a Violent World: A Practical Guide to Keeping our Kids Safe” - Dr. Steve Webb will present lessons learned from American school violence and utilizing his Learner Mindset to better understand the changing world and prevent violence in our schools.
Summary
Research indicates that there are almost a half million acts of violence in American schools annually with over 20% of high school students reporting that they have been bullied. School safety and security in these modern times is more than just policing – it is about connecting with students and parents by better understanding the world they now live in. When research now suggests that 1 in 5 boys and 1 in 11 girls are being diagnosed with ADHD, there is a systemic cause and effect with suicide rates and the deteriorating mental health of our young people. The research from the book Education in a Violent World is critical at understanding how to bring positive change to our school culture and ultimately curb the violence we are seeing in our nation's schools.
