Summary
As Sincere Youth Advocates, much of our work rightfully centers around enhancing the lives of the underserved, which in most cases are Black and Brown Youth. We work tirelessly to minimize their negative behaviors, operate with restorative justice initiatives and prevention overall, while nurturing the gifts they have on the inside. In doing so, however, we have ignored the negative, often tragic behavior of the young white males we serve or at least created a climate where young white males are viewed as "ideal youth," thus casting an even greater and detrimental light on Black and Brown Youth. In this highly engaging, interactive session- Keith L. Brown, "Mr. I'm Possible," will provide data from over two decades of mass school shootings, examples of his work with young white males, and WHY we should pay much more attention to minimizing the negative behaviors of young white males in the schools, agencies, and organizations we serve nationally and globally. In doing so- we will begin to shape the narrative that all our youth are potentially great and/or potentially violent, and we have a profound say so in which comes to fruition. This session will provide tangible tools that can be implemented immediately.
