Dr. Gary Chapman's book entitled The 5 Love Languages of Children is integral in meeting the needs of all students. Each child has a specific love language in which they yearn for. It is important to recognize the way students feel loved. In order for students to achieve at their highest level, their love tank must remain full. This book is relative to the growing trend of social and emotional learning.
Brief Program Description
Do you know what the 5 Love Languages are? Everyone has a unique way of feeling loved. Based on the #1 NY Times Best Selling book, “The 5 Love Languages of Children,” this session offers information/strategies into the secret of incorporating effective and loving teaching/administrative practice that enables children to achieve their greatest potential. We will discover the “5 Love Languages of Children,” and the importance of ensuring all students’ social/emotional love tanks are full!
Summary
When a child feels loved they can achieve their highest potential, and ultimate conquer the challenges they face in life. The 5 Love Languages of Children helps educators and parents understand how children feel loved. It is important to meet the social and emotional needs of every child, especially in school. The strategies present in this #1 NY Times Best-Selling book helps equip both educators and parents with an understand of love languages, and how to create an atmosphere in which every child's love tank is full. Since this book focuses more on parenting, we have developed practical methods and specific strategies to be used in the classroom.
Evidence
Each year, we have our teachers administer The 5 Love Languages assessment to all their students in September. Teachers use this information as a guide to meeting the social and emotional needs of their students. In addition, administration also uses this information/data when dealing with discipline and academic referrals.
