Relevance
An array of interventions will be covered that address social, emotional and behavioral needs. We will also include a description of TASC - a flex-block structure that allows for social and behavioral interventions and supports. During TASC, students receive counselor facilitated interventions that support and develop emerging social, emotional and behavioral skills.
Brief Program Description
Imagine what secondary educators could accomplish if they had TIME and a PROCESS to build relationships and customize interventions. This presentation will reveal how ConVal High School discovered avenues to meet the needs of its at-risk population through an innovative flex-block structure, TASC, and a host of evidence based interventions and processes.
Summary
Join us for an energizing and hope inspiring presentation on structure and process that promotes social, emotional and behavioral growth! Learn about what ConVal High School does with RENEW, DBT, ZEN DEN, and a Substance Abuse Task Force to address complex needs of its at-risk population. All of the aforementioned interventions have two things in common: Structure and Process. Structure refers to a dedicated TIME during the school day to respond to emerging or shifting needs. Process refers to the intentional relationships built in the context of structure that aids student growth in social, emotional and behavioral domains.
RENEW is an evidence based tier 3 intervention that uses visual mapping to help students materialize their future aspirations.
DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) Skills group is an evidence based intervention that equips depressed and anxious students will coping skills and cognitive restructuring strategies.
ZEN DEN is a weekly mindfulness, meditation and Reiki Group designed to help students decompress and let go of stress.
ConVal Substance Abuse Task Force is a 30 member task force comprised of district and community stakeholders. The task force designs and develops strategies for prevention and intervention in substance abuse.
