This proposal relates to Strand 1 by creating equitable access to learning for all students, effectively utilizes student performance data to provide information to make informed instructional decisions, and brain based instruction.
Brief Program Description
School leaders and teachers will learn how to effectively use student performance data and instructional resources to maximize student mastery of standards. Detailed strategies for differentiated instruction, backwards design, and progress monitoring will be provided.
Summary
Participants will learn to design intervention time for all students by learning to properly analyze student performance data and align student need with desired learning outcomes. Participants will learn effective methods for teaching, re-teaching, and enriching students with diverse needs and various levels of proficiency. Additionally, participants will be provided with practical "take home" knowledge to immediately begin implemenation in their schools and/or classrooms.
Evidence
These methodologies are based upon the research of Effect Size. Groups who received these methods of instruction have experienced effect sizes in learning ranging from 0.5 to 1.1
Biographical Sketch
Ashley LaMar is a Coordinator for School Development in Ft. Myers, FL, with over 17 years of experience as a classroom teacher, school administrator, and central office administrator. He holds degrees from Indiana University (Bloomington) and Florida Gulf Coast University.
Dave Burgess is Principal of Patriot Elementary in Cape Coral, FL, with over 30 years of experience as a classroom teacher and school administrator across all levels. He holds degrees from Machester College and Central Michigan University.
