Reuse and Repurpose: How Public Health transformed a tired trailer to meet the clinical needs of our community.

Abstract

For years, a dental trailer went unused and unkept until a group of creative public health professionals saw how it could help meet a need in our community. A partnership between clinical and non-clinical programs allowed for the transformation of the dental trailer into a mobile unit to be used as a way of providing clinical services in our community. In addition, the mobile serves as a command post in the event of a disaster in the district. A tired, dirty, and unused trailer has now become the outpost of clinical services, health promotion activities, and emergency response in our community.
