Investing in our Public Health Workforce: New Employee Orientation

Abstract

In an effort to train and orient new staff to public health and our mission, the South Central Health District created a New Employee Orientation program that aims to educate staff of public health, the mission of public health, local public health, public health programs, and how public health impacts the community. The overall goal of a new employee orientation is to ensure the district has a workforce who fully understand the core components of public health and to ensure by-in to the public health mission. The presentation will lay out components of our two-day new employee orientation and data obtained from new employees who participated in the training.
