Putting the Pieces Together: Using Current Strengths to Build Cohesive Schoolwide PBIS
Presentation Abstract
How do you shift mindsets from seeing PBIS as an extra “program” or “responsibility” to viewing a school-wide PBIS framework as the foundation for all other school success? It’s clear that there are many pathways to a model that works but common objectives exist to do this critical work. Come explore the journey of one elementary school who took their PBIS implementation to the next level by capitalizing on stakeholders' strengths to fill in areas that data identified as needs. Practical strategies and tips can assist any school in zeroing in on high impact plans that build collective buy-in, increase student engagement, and boost staff morale.
This session will offer participants a chance to identify strengths within their own school and consider how to build upon that potential to create tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3 interventions and supports. Such a PBIS framework establishes an environment that makes students, teachers, and parents see the school as a place they’d recommend to others.
