Presentation Abstract
The Pierce County Teachers chose Work Ready Words, one to be used per month, and tied them to the school's PBIS Expectations. These words would be used by teachers, students, parents, and community to demonstrate character qualities that we look for in others. Teachers that demonstrated the qualities of the word were chosen to work with the AV Department and design a video to share how that particular word had impacted their life both professionally and personally. The videos were posted along with lessons for parents and community to view also. Parents were encouraged to reinforce the words at home while community businesses posted the word of the month to remind students of the importance of these words in the work force. All students were rewarded with shout outs when teachers could see the children demonstrating the word of the month with each class having their own wall (Seniors, juniors etc) to boost competition. With teachers, parents and community working together the climate of all locations will be more positive and the physical, emotional, social and mental wellness of all students will improve.
