Presentation Abstract
Tier Two in the Pyramid model for positive behavior support is teaching social and emotional skills. Once the environment is set up for children to be successful and expectations for behavior are taught, young children need varying levels of support to learn key social skills and to understand emotions in self and others. Using materials adapted from CSEFEL, participants will learn about how to help their students develop friendship skills, identify feeling in self and others, control anger, and develop problem solving skills. Participants will apply these concepts through embedding these concepts in planned transitions, and discussing ways to embed social emotional skills in lessons targeting other content areas.
