Short Description
Active learning strives for instruction that is learner-centered, but does not necessarily disrupt the dichotomy of the librarian instructor as the owner of knowledge and students as recipients. This session will introduce a leaner-driven approach that not only encourages students to think for themselves, but also values the knowledge they bring into the classroom and the frameworks they already possess with which to construct meaning. Inspired by the work of Paulo Friere, this approach frees the student to drive the ‘why’ of learning, as well as the ‘how.’
