Collection Abstract

The collection consists of papers of the Gignilliat family of Savannah (Ga.) from ca. 1891-1975. The bulk of the collection relates to Clifford Gignilliat Sewell and includes correspondence (1928-1934) between Sewell and others and correspondence (1928-1932) between Sewell and W.L. Sewell; manuscripts of Sewell's works with source materials and newspaper articles; and scrapbooks and loose clippings and articles written by Sewell mainly about the history of Savannah. The collection also contains correspondence (1891-1908) to and from Robert D. Gignilliat, information on Leigh R. Gignilliat, genealogical data on the Gignilliat family, and photographs.
