Abstract
A critical study of educational practices in the United States with the application of tenets of critical race theory. Examining the implication of educational practices that are conducive to maintaining oppression of historically marginalized groups. A close evaluation of narratives told by Black Americans and the relevancy these narratives hold to educators and students becoming agents of change and powerful advocates. A personal narrative of an educator and experiences with reflection on teaching practices. An in-depth examination of culturally relevant pedagogy and the conclusive discussion of why these practices are fundamental to equitable educational outcomes throughout the nation. A critical analysis of power sustained through systematic structures of public systems that perpetuate continued oppression and marginalization of Black and nonwhite racial groups in America. A review of White supremacy and racism as it manifests in present day society and the destructiveness it has to Black American communities.
