Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to introduce how and why educational researchers integrate art into their mixed methods research. Art and artistic practices can be integrated in mixed methods studies in ways that center the art or to supplement the other methodological approaches in the study. We briefly describe some example educational research studies that have integrated art and artistic practices in mixed methods in educational research. We also outline the challenges educational researchers face in combining art-related research and mixed methods research approaches as well as strategies to address those challenges.
