Organization in the Middle Grades Course Review
Abstract
This presentation will examine a course entitled, "Organization in the MIddle Grades" for it's foundation of social justice and culturally responsive pedagogy. The course objectives, texts, assignments, and activities will all be examined in hopes to better equip the students with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to teach and reach students in a culturally responsive way that promotes social justice. Critiques and suggestions and welcomed for course curriculum improvement.
Presentation Description
This presentation reviews a course for pre-service teachers to ensure that social justice and culturally responsive pedagogy is addressed in the curriculum. The curriculum in which students engage will impact their classrooms for years to come. For that reason, this presentation helps to ensure that the students are receiving the most effective instruction to maximize their student achievement and professional progression.
