Ethical and Cultural Implications of Counselor Self-Care
Session Four Breakouts: Embassy Suites Salon C
Presenter will provide.
Description
Counselor responsibilities and expectations continue to expand, causing professionals to experience feelings of being overwhelmed and stressed. Novoteny (2010) notes cultural differences influence both the perception of stressors and manifestations of strain. The ACA Code of Ethics states that counselors should "engage in self-care activities." This presentation will discuss the cultural and ethical implications for self-care and highlight self-care strategies. Approved for 1.25 ethics contact hours.
