Practical Approaches to Multimodal Composition
Abstract
This panel will offer advice on the practical applications of a multimodal approach to teaching composition. Two instructors who have recently piloted a multimodal approach to teaching first-year writing will discuss what worked (and what could have worked better) in that class. Expected topics include student creation of a blog, scaffolded assignments and their results, issues of student reaction (both positive and negative), and the meaningful ways teachers in all grade levels can make use of such a multimodal approach to achieve course outcomes
