Building Communities with Diverse Students

Abstract

Higher Education institutions draw students from around the world creating unique classroom communities each semester. The last six years I have gathered qualitative data and video responses from students who have participated in these classroom group relationships. This simple methodology organizes students into small groups based on their intrinsic commonalities. It works! This method is set up early in the course and independently perpetuates itself with some input from the professor/instructor. The results continue to increase student motivation, participation and has a positive effect on their academic success. Please join me and my colleagues as we share how to establish this process in any course.
