A Story of Reconfiguration: Discussion, Community, and the Technology of Sharing

Abstract

In an era of hyper-standard sensitivity, hyper-accountability, student regimentation, loss of autonomous thought, and dependence on artificially derived grades as a measure of knowledge attainment, how do we dismantle silos of learning to create environments which affirm conversationally based learning and in the process reinvigorate professorial scholarship? Additionally, how do we share the findings with the general academic community in a manner that is engaging, responsive, and sustaining? The purpose of this session is to share, ways in which a variety of technological tools, can be used to facilitate and report upon the reconfiguration of pre-service education classes to incorporate shared scholarship, teaching as community, student engagement, and evidence of student learning.
