A Case Study of Integrating SoTL into Campus Culture

Abstract

The Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) has established an Institutional Leadership Program that consists of institutional groups, each with its own theme. In this session, presenters engage participants in discussion abouta multifaceted endeavor at a regional comprehensive university to integrate SoTL into campus culture. The university is a member of the CASTL group that has adopted the theme, "Integrating SoTL into Institutional Culture: Philosophy, Policy and Infrastructure.” We focus on 1) Strategies for establishing and sustaining a cross-disciplinary SoTL Faculty Learning Community (FLC), 2) A model of a new SoTL wiki/blog, a website that allows users to edit any page or to create new pages within the website, 3) The institutional context in which the SoTL FLC and the SoTL wiki/blog are among several components of a SoTL initiative.
