This presentation highlights effective and practical ways to support at-risk English Language Learners academically while enhancing ELLs and their families to maneuver their way through the structures/norms that frame learning in our public institutions of learning. In addition, immigrant youth are at-risk for reasons that not only include a need to learn the English language but also gain knowledge of the socially accepted norms within their new environment.
