Summary
While there is no silver bullet for increasing academic outcomes in our most at-risk youth, research continues to identify meeting the social and emotional needs of kids is the right place to start. Once relationships develop, connections begin to form which break down barriers to learning. Once barriers to learning are mitigated, providing exposure to real-world opportunities outside the traditional scope of our communities increases student engagement and motivation to achieve at outstanding levels. Woven throughout this process are strategic ways in which parents engage as partners with the school.
Participants will engage with the Principal and Parental Engagement Professional of Hampton Elementary School to identify ways they can increase academic outcomes and parental engagement in their own professional setting.
