Relevance

Information literacy sharpens critical and creative thinking skills. A combination of these skills will create a higher order of thinking which is essential for excellence in school and for surviving in today’s society. These skills are also needed in order for students to communicate in knowledgeable, logical, and defensible ways. The skills are important tools that are necessary and required for an individual to effectively participate in problem solving, decision making, setting and achieving realistic goals, building self-confidence - which in turn enriches one’s self-esteem, as well as, social skills. Without information literacy, critical and creative thinking skills, youths, as well as, adults will be at a significant disadvantage in school, in the workplace, as well as in today’s society; in fact many will fall short in developing their self-identity.
