Abstract
The use of problem-based learning (PBL) for advanced practice nursing students has been a positive experience to enhance critical thinking.
Due to the interest of faculty and positive results in other programs, the opportunity to immerse students via the PBL format to enhance critical thinking related to the nurse executive role was explored.
The College of Nursing realized the potential to enhance critical thinking and incorporated PBL into their Family Nurse Practitioner program.
To date, course development incorporating PBL for the nurse executive course is underway. Development and incorporation of the PBL approach will be presented. The results from students and faculty are pending.
As a result, additional faculty will be exploring the PBL in their various nursing courses.
