Brief Biography

Dr. Lisa Quick holds degrees in Educational and School Psychology. She has been a practicing school psychologist for 22 years and has taught graduate classes at GSU's College of Education. She has given numerous presentations, most recently presenting her self-regulation research in Washington, DC in February 2014. Despite her years of experience in education and child development, she is continually schooled by her 5 year old son who reminds her daily that she still has got a lot to learn.

Presentation Abstract

Effective PBIS includes behavior supports that are tailored to meet an individual student's needs. This session will introduce a simple assessment tool that will help identify the types of supports that are most effective. This session will then teach participants how to use that insight to create a personalized menu of reinforcers using free computer-based resources. This session will discuss the psychology of positive reinforcement and the often overlooked marketing that makes those reinforcers powerful. Participants will walk away with an assessment tool, the ability to generate an individualized reinforcement menu, a comprehensive list of positive reinforcers, and insight into how to tweak their current system to boost effectiveness.
