Abstract
This poster will highlight the partnership between Information Technology and Library faculty on one college campus as we have piloted a project designed to integrate the new ACRL Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education into our required Introduction to Information Technology course, particularly through the lens of recognizing that “Authority is Constructed and Contextual”. The library and ITEC faculty have worked together to identify our commons student learning outcomes, design and develop an innovative instructional module, and implement that module by embedding it into ITEC 1001. The poster describes our collaborative process, particularly how we worked to align the various institutional, departmental, and library learning goals and how we used the ADDIE design model to focus our efforts. The poster demonstrates how we have used this work to create a series of interventions and workshops, including a pre-test, tutorial, in-class activity, and various methods of student assessment and reflection. We will also highlight our findings from our assessment measures and how we are using that information in refining and redesigning our approach. Participants will gain an understanding of how the new ACRL Framework for Information Literacy can be adopted and adapted to integrate information literacy into the STEM curriculum.
